Getting a Linksys wireless router to work with an Apple MacMy router is a WRT54G, but much of this should work with other routers. The problem is Linksys does not ship software that works with OS X, only Windows. So you have to go straight to the web configuration. I got much help from this web site Now Everything works fine. One thing they don't mention on that site is that you have to unplug the cable/dsl/whatever modem and restart so it will recognize the router and work DHCP. If you use ssh to log into remote machines, you will have to alter your configuration. For some reason, the linksys router decides that idle ssh (port 22) connections should be booted, kicked off. Add something like this to your .ssh/config: # Avoid idle connection resets by asking the server # if it is alive every two minutes. This will keep # the router from thinking we are idle.
